Old mascara wands save ducklings!

The golden rule for mascara is that it should be replaced every 3-6 months. Apart from the fact that the formulas usually dry out, it can also be quite unhygienic to use it for longer than this time, especially if you have had any form of eye infection during this time; it is recommended to replace your mascara straight away if this is the case.

So what happens to all of those mascara wands? Instead of throwing them out, you cannot put them to excellent use.

After they have been washed with clean, soapy water, they can be used to clean and groom the tiny new ducklings and bunnies at NEW ARC, the North East Wildlife and animal Rescue Centre. they are perfect for removing mites and bugs from the tiny animals' soft fur. You can post your mascara wands to:

The New Arc, Nether Auquhadlie, Auchnagatt, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, AB41 8UW

If you've been thinking about clearing out that makeup bag, now is the perfect time!

Other charities you can send your wands to include:

Barnacle Hedgehog Rescue, 8 Lower Road, Barnacle , Coventry, CV7 9LD

Pets And Wildlife Service (PAWS) Staffordshire, 4 Norfolk Grove, Great Wyrley, WS6 6JS
